Born in 1976 in Vienna. He had his first contact with photography at the age of 15 when he started his apprenticeship. After completion, he attended the College of Graphic Design and Photography in Vienna. Subsequently he had his first photo publications in the Austrian weekly magazine profil. Today, all the major Austrian magazines as well as companies such as Siemens, OMV, One, T-mobile and Niedermeyer are his clients. Both Austrian and international newspapers like Die Zeit, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Stern, Frankfurter Rundschau, trend, profil, Skylines and Technology Review have assigned Philipp Horak. He has travelled in Egypt, Syria, India, Germany and Sweden.
In 2001 his first exhibition was about the city of Cairo and was a co-production with the Austrian writer Gerhard Roth, who complemented the photos with notes from his book Der Strom (The Stream).
Since the beginning of 2004, Philipp Horak has been working with the “Shaolin Monks” in Portugal, France, Spain, China and Austria on a book.
He joined the Regina Maria Anzenberger Agency in 2004.
